Our story
If you've found this page, chances are someone you trust sent you.
For decades — inside the world's largest foundation, in newsrooms across Asia and Europe, at global agencies, at Davos, at the UN, and in spaces with no cameras — Amy Enright and Karen Lowry Miller built their reputations the traditional way: one story, one relationship, one kept confidence at a time. Amy came up through media strategy and made hard moments survivable; Karen came up as an award-winning journalist and built thought leadership into a discipline. In 2024, in Seattle, they founded the agency they always wanted to hire: senior counsel, small by design, the first call the moment ambition needs direction.
They lead with curiosity, stay grounded, and know when the plan itself needs to change. That's what leadership requires in moments like these, and it's what Newton Street is built to give.
How we work
The world doesn't pause for anyone. We stay agile without losing the long view.
We are deep thinkers who set strategy and execute with discipline. Because the world never stops moving, we stay close to the signals that shape what comes next.
We are endlessly curious and believe communications should serve a greater good — that the point of a sharper narrative is a better decision, a funded vaccine, a policy that holds. We believe the real world is tactile and tangible, and the best stories keep their texture. And we believe in discretion. Much of our best work is invisible by design.
Artificial intelligence is changing how stories are found, told, and trusted. We treat AI as fuel. It clears the coordination tax: the scheduling, the research, the unglamorous middle of the work.
At Newton Street, humans write your story, set your strategy, and sit in the room when trust is being built.
Judgment, relationships, and taste do not delegate.
Who we are
Amy Enright
Partner and Co-Founder
Amy believes the hardest global problems move only when the room is right and the story can survive scrutiny. That conviction was sharpened over nearly 15 years leading international media strategy at the Gates Foundation, where she supported more than a dozen resource mobilizations for partnerships like Gavi and the Global Fund, drove coverage from Davos to the UN General Assembly, and steered crisis communications when reputations were on the line. Amy serves on the Executive Council of Gonzaga's business school and is an executive member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, where she judges the Webby, Lovie, and Anthem Awards.
Karen Lowry Miller
Partner and Co-Founder
Karen believes a leader's voice can move as much as the policy behind it — a belief sharpened over decades covering complex global stories firsthand. She reported from Asia and Europe for BusinessWeek and served as Newsweek's bureau chief and European economics editor, award-winning work that shaped how she builds narratives today. She then spent a decade at the Gates Foundation, where she led global health communications as a member of the foundation's leadership team, ran a multi-year campaign for childhood vaccines, and created its first CEO voice strategy. Karen holds postgraduate degrees in international affairs and journalism from Columbia University.
Bethany Hardy
Senior Director, Media Engagement
A story only lands when it meets its audience where they are, Bethany says. Most recently a Senior Communications Officer at the Gates Foundation, she led media relations for its gender equality division — women's health, maternal health, family planning, and economic empowerment — advising senior leadership through politically sensitive moments, from the dismantling of U.S. foreign aid to global family planning crises. Across more than two decades, she has held communications leadership roles at award-winning agencies, the National Academy of Medicine, on Capitol Hill, and on the presidential campaign trail. She holds a B.A. in English from Wittenberg University — and still can't resist a book that quietly changes how she sees the world.
Anu Horsman
Senior Director, Campaigns & Content
Anu Horsman's approach starts from a single premise: the most complex issues deserve the most compelling craft — strategy and creative execution in the same pair of hands. A creative leader for more than 20 years, she started at leading agencies, running campaigns for brands including Heineken, Morgan's Hotel Group, Seattle's Best Coffee, and JanSport. She then moved in-house to Gates Ventures, where she spent more than a decade building and managing Gates Notes into one of the world's most influential owned-media platforms, reaching audiences in the hundreds of millions. She holds a master's in fashion strategy and design from the Arnhem Institute for the Arts. Her years spent living and traveling abroad have shaped her sense of style ever since in how she sees as much as how she thinks — an instinct she brings to everything she builds. She serves on the board of the Seattle Waldorf School.
Sarah Muench
Account Manager
Sarah works from one conviction: trust is built through clear, honest communications, and trust is what inspires action. She brings nearly 20 years across journalism, government, policy, and philanthropy. An award-winning journalist with The Arizona Republic and USA TODAY Network and an Emmy winner for production, she went on to communications roles in the Phoenix mayor's office and the Arizona Legislature before founding her own consultancy, advising clients including StoryCorps and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. She holds a master's degree in global technology and development from Arizona State University. Outside of work, she's just as likely to be deep in a history book as yelling at a sports podcast.
Blair Shane
Strategic Initiatives and Research Manager
Intentional planning, paired with compassion, is a powerful catalyst for lasting impact, in Blair's view. A strategic leader with nearly two decades in philanthropy, healthcare, and the nonprofit sector, she has built and scaled programs for global health institutions, children's health systems, and community-based organizations alike. Her work aligns teams, strengthens delivery systems, and builds the infrastructure that turns big-picture vision into results — the same instinct that draws her to art, interior design, and objects with a story to tell, and a well-honed eye for finding beauty in the unexpected. She holds a degree in anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alison Wagner
Chief of Staff
Alison's guiding principle: collaboration and access to resources can improve the quality of life on our planet. She came to Newton Street after a decade as a national and international leader in the hospice field, directing patient care, community outreach, and operations across a nonprofit career spanning the arts, education, and healthcare. The 2023 American Express Leadership Academy Alumni Award winner, she directed her $25,000 award gift to Hospice of Michigan, and serves on the board of Atlas of Care. She holds bachelor's degrees in business and music performance from Michigan State University and a graduate degree in performing arts administration from New York University — training that still shows up whenever she sings the National Anthem.
Meaghan Webster
Account Manager
Creativity and analytics working together — that's the principle behind Meaghan's approach to storytelling. She managed health care policy communications at Arnold Ventures and supported the VA's Cancer Moonshot Initiative, where her team won an Emmy and produced cancer screening campaigns in partnership with NASA. Her career spans policy, advocacy, and digital strategy for organizations including the Nuclear Threat Initiative. A certified Project Management Professional, she holds a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University. Off the clock, she's learning to fly fish — and, by her own admission, is weirdly good at identifying trees.
Kisa Yonker
Senior Account Manager
Community is the throughline. Whether she's in a room with a handful of neighbors or shepherding a global campaign, Kisa starts from the same place: whose story is this, and how do we tell it so every community has what it needs to thrive. A specialist in media relations and executive visibility, she came to Newton Street from Weber Shandwick's Social Impact & Sustainability division, leading advocacy campaigns and media placements for clients including Amazon, the Gates Foundation, Calm, USAID, and Trust for Public Land. Her work spans public health, environmental justice, gender equality, financial inclusion, and workplace equity. She holds a degree in political science from Washington State University.
