Volvo is an automobile maker that was founded in 1927 in the city of Gothenburg in Sweden. Volvo was acquired by the Ford Motor Company and placed in its Premier Automotive Group. In the US market, Volvo is marketed as a luxury car, with the intent to compete with Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Saab.
