Maybach was founded in the early 1900's when Wilhelm Maybach and his son Karl became German manufacturers of engines for zeppelins and later large and luxurious automobiles. Maybach was revived as a brand in the early 2000s under the direction of Mercedes-Benz, with the production of a new model in two variations - the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62. The prices range from US $305,000 to $357,000 and are priced to directly compete with top-of-the-range Bentley and Rolls-Royce automobiles also available on the market. In 2005, the new 57S has been added, sporting a more powerful engine and cosmetic touches that provide a sporty image for the car maker. |
