Back in August of 1983, Lexus was born. At a top-level, top-secret meeting, it was Toyota Chairman Eiji Toyoda who then determined that the time was right to create a luxury vehicle to challenge the world's best. Lexus began offering models in 1989 after unveiling two models at that years Detroit and Los Angeles auto shows. Lexus automobiles are essentially re-branded Toyota vehicles sharing the same platform but relying on superior suspension, braking and mechanical components. Lexus vehicles also tend to offer more powerful engines than their Toyota cousins. Today, Lexus offers some of the most popular luxury vehicles available. The newly redesigned Lexus IS-300 model has been recreated to become a direct rival to BMW's 3-series, considered to be a market leader for small luxury sedans. |
