In 1902 Max Grabowski established a company called the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company which developed some of first trucks ever designed for commercial use. In 1909 the company was bought by General Motors and quickly became the General Motors Truck Company, from which GMC Truck was derived. In 1912 the label of GMC Truck was first shown at the New York Auto Show. While that name worked well for the company, it was eventually changed in 1996 when the word 'truck' was removed from the GMC Truck name. That created the GMC we know of here in the United States Today. Today's GMC offers a variety of pickup, commercial and heavy-duty trucks as well as vans and SUVs. As one of America's most stable auto manufacturers, GMC trucks consider to be a large part of the vehicles driven by domestic consumers. |
